Medical Faculty Management

Prof. Dr. Nadi Bakırcı graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1989. He received his PhD in Public Health from Ege University, completing his doctoral studies at the Manchester North West Lung Research Centre and Lancashire cotton mills. Between 1998 and 2008, he conducted academic activities in public health, epidemiology, and occupational health at Marmara University School of Medicine, where he was a faculty member.

He has been a faculty member at Acıbadem University School of Medicine since its inception in 2009, focusing on medical education and educational administration. He has played an active role as coordinator and vice dean responsible for medical education in the planning and management of the medical education program. He has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine since 2021.

Prof. Dr. Özden Hatırnaz Ng graduated from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at Istanbul University in 2002. She completed her MSc (2002–2005) and PhD (2005–2011) in the Genetics Program at the Institute of Health Sciences, Istanbul University. During her doctoral studies, she conducted research at the Department of Immunology at Erasmus Medical Center (EMC), the Netherlands, and at the Department of Molecular Stem Cell Biology at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). She also worked as a visiting researcher at the Department of Pharmacogenetics at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the United States and at the Department of Human Genetics at Heidelberg University in Germany.

Between 2005 and 2018, she served as a research assistant at the Department of Genetics at the Aziz Sancar Institute of Experimental Medicine, Istanbul University. Her main research interests include childhood cancers, genetic predisposition to cancer, rare and undiagnosed diseases, and advanced therapeutic approaches. In 2018, she received the title of Associate Professor in Medical Genetics and was appointed to the Department of Medical Biology at Acıbadem University School of Medicine in the same year. She was promoted to Professor in 2023 and has been serving as the Vice Dean responsible for Research and Academic Affairs since March 2024.

Dr. Serdar Beken graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 2002. He completed his residency training in Pediatrics at Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 2008 and subsequently completed his Neonatology fellowship training at Gazi University School of Medicine in 2011. Following the completion of his neonatology fellowship, he received advanced clinical training at Hospital Universitario La Paz, Madrid, Spain, in the fields of neonatal hemodynamics and functional imaging. Between 2012 and 2015, he worked as a neonatologist at Dr. Sami Ulus Maternity and Children’s Training and Research Hospital.

Since 2015, Dr. Serdar Beken has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University School of Medicine. Since 2024, he has also been serving as the Vice Dean responsible for Medical Education at the same institution. In 2025, he completed his Master’s degree in Medical Education at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University.

Dr. Şahin Şenay graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2000 and completed his residency in cardiovascular surgery at Siyami Ersek Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul in 2005. He completed comprehensive training in adult cardiac surgery, with a particular focus on transcatheter cardiovascular therapies and robotic cardiac surgery. In these fields, he participated in advanced training programs and fellowship experiences at leading international centers, including Leipzig Heart Center, Mayo Clinic, and the University Hospital of Zurich. He holds board certifications from both the Turkish Board of Cardiovascular Surgery and the European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

He is currently a faculty member at Acıbadem University School of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery. He serves as an Advisor to the Dean’s Office and previously held the position of Vice Dean. He has been actively performing cardiovascular surgery within Acıbadem Healthcare Group hospitals since 2005. He is a member of prominent professional societies, including the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS), the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS), and the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery (TSCV). He currently serves as the General Secretary-Elect of ISMICS and is a member of the Editorial Board of Innovations, the official journal of the society.
